The Federal
Government has announced RM 100 million funding for Cable Car Project at Penang
Hill. The project estimate is around 130 Million and right now PHC Penang Hill
Corporation is working on the feasibility study.
“Right Now
the visitors to Penang Hill are using Funicular Train Ride. 1.74 Million riders
have been recorded in 2018 using Funicular Train. And the numbers of local and foreign
tourists are rising. Hence Cable Car Project will be an add on element so as to
provide an aerial view of Penang Hill and it shall definitely lead to more
tourist arrivals” quoted Mr. Cheok Lay Leng, GM, Penang Hill Corporation.
Situated at
2733 ft from sea level, Penang Hill offers the panoramic views of the island
and the mainland. Penang Hill Funicular Railway, with steepest tunnel track in
the world is the longest track in Asia. Apart from the views it has to offer,
Penang Hill has ample space for corporate get together, variety of food options
so as to create the super effect for your event. And the icing on the cake is
lush green environment, which sets it apart from the city venues.
A Visit to
Penang Hill was incorporated in the itinerary for Buyers during PITE 2019 at
Penang. Almost 80 Buyers from 11 countries got the opportunity to explore the
Hill. VIP entrance in Funicular Train ride was arranged for the delegation. The
whole idea was to let them experience Destination from the perspective of MICE,
Events and even FIT premium segment clients.

concluded successfully in Penang with presence of 60+ sellers from Penang and
80+ International Buyers and Media across 11 countries.

was totally focused on India market where we hosted 100 Buyers. This year we
have invited buyers from 11 countries in order to make it more focused and
expanded the horizon. Out of 495 applications we have zeroed down to 80
potential ones. Post PITE 2018, we have witnessed growth ranging from 11 to 13%
in tourist arrivals from India Market” stated Mr. Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO PCEB
