Breaking News for Exhibition Industry in India, came with Unlock 5.0 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India on 30 Sep 2020. The news has brought back smiles to faces aligned with the industry, be it Exhibition Organizers, suppliers, and professionals.
Exhibitions which are considered to be economic drivers, multiplier effect generator, were on standstill since March 2020. The industry was eagerly waiting for Government to allow the reopening of the exhibition sector and this has been addressed with Unlock 5.0 and B2B exhibitions have been allowed to operate starting 15 Oct 2020. MHA has also requested the Ministry of Commerce to suggest aligned SOP’s so as to organize shows with safety and security measures. The industry is eagerly waiting for SOP's so as to plan their projects soon.
A lot has been discussed and deliberated since these six months of lockdown and technology was the only savior. To restart real business face to face/physical events has to start and unlock 5.0 has opened the closed doors to B2B exhibitions as the first step. All industry players, Trade Associations have played their role by highlighting the importance of the exhibition industry including media houses. Here need to mention few names starting from IEIA-Indian Exhibition Industry Association, headed by Mr. S Balasubramanian, current President along with The Mice Conference 2.0 where the issues and solutions pertaining to Exhibition Business were discussed at length. Industry Leaders joining The Mice Conference across the globe included Mr. Phil Chung-CEO, Kinexin (IICC India Operating Company), Mr. Mark Cochrane (Regional Manager, Asia Pacific UFI), Mr. Mark Tesi Baur (MBB Consulting Group, UK), Mrs Kimarli Fernando (Chairperson Sri Lanka Tourism) along with IEIA President.
The next step is to start the exhibition business with
precautions and safety, which in turn shall also help to reinforce the visitor
confidence. Final SOP's are awaited from Ministry to restart the Exhibition Business.
