There was a flood of bookings for all the facilities at Wyboston Lakes Resort immediately after the Prime Minister’s ‘roadmap’ announcement.
From the spa and golf course to the hotel and conference centres, the few staff working were kept continually busy throughout the week handling enquiries and confirmations.
Steve Jones, Managing Director of Wyboston Lakes Resort said: “This was clearly the release of a tremendous build-up of weariness at not being able to enjoy the facilities since early December, and an eagerness to take the opportunity as soon as likely re-opening dates were announced.”
The golfers will be the first to get back on course on 29 March, followed by the hotel reopening on 17 May and the Spa on 20 May.
With social distancing regulations limiting the number of people who can be in some of the areas, the spa, in particular, was rapidly booked for several weeks in no time.
Meanwhile, there were also many encouraging inquiries for the resort’s Woodlands Event Centre and Willows Training Centre. They included a national conference for 350+ people in July and several other training events also in July.
Steve Jones added: “This has been a very uplifting and pleasing week and now we’re looking forward to bringing more staff back from furlough as soon as we can start preparing for re-opening. Although our Woodlands Event Centre and Willows Training Centre have remained open through the pandemic for essential training for the NHS and the Police, we can’t wait to reopen for everyone and to have all the facilities busy once more.”
